While working as a file-clerk in a small law firm, she stumbles upon a cover-up involving contaminated water in a local town, which is causing devastating illnesses. Along with her boss, she investigates and uncovers the company causing the contamination and wins the largest settlement ver paid in a direct-action suit- $400 millions.

Amelie is looking for love and perhaps for the meaning of love it in general. We see her grow up in an original if slightly dysfunctional family. Now as a waitress in central Paris, she interacts curiously with her neighbors and customers as well as mysterious Photomaton-images collector and one of his even more mysterious photo subjects. Little by little, Amelie realizes that the way to happiness (and yet more subtle humor) requires here to take her own initiative and reach out to others
